Fundraise for Camp Hendon

If you are interested in helping Camp Hendon raise funds for camperships and to assist the 100% all-volunteer staff with operations, here are a few campaigns and projects we have going on year-round.

  1. Sponsor a camper by offering "cabins" at your own or a local business
  2. Wear jeans to work, and raise money for camp
  3. Raise funds while grocery shopping
  4. Consider donating yourself or giving monthly

Sponsor a camper by offering cabins at your own or local businesses

This fundraiser can be used in a variety of businesses and offices in your community. A cabin village is purchased for $1.00 and the village is taped to the wall of the business with the donor’s name written on the village. You will need to make copies of the flyer to post at strategic locations in the business. You will also need to make copies and cut out the villages. We are asking you or the business to make the copies and consider it an in-kind donation of service. Black and white copies are less expensive and may be used. You will need 350 cabin cut outs to raise funds for 1 campership ($350.00).

A person in the business will need to be designated to take charge of the money that is donated.  Many organizations do this type of fundraiser; when approaching the business it might help to remind them that camp is run by 100% volunteer power and 100% of proceeds go to support the local camp services.

See the attachment below for the cabin/village fundraiser.

Wear jeans to work, and raise money for camp

Denim for Diabetes is an event you can offer your employees (or ask your employers to run) that will allow them to make a contribution to support Camp Hendon, a program of Kentucky Diabetes Camp for Children, Inc.  Employees are permitted to wear blue jeans to work in return for their contribution to the camp fundraiser.  We have attached the "Denim 4 Diabetes" planning kit below.

Raise funds while grocery shopping

Camp Hendon has qualified for a fundraising program offered by Kroger stores that donates 4% of your total shopping expenses directly to Camp Hendon, all you have to do is use a designated Kroger card.  You can learn how to receive your renewable card from Camp Hendon by emailing Dr. Vasti Broadstone at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .  The beginning card value is $5 and you have to recharge your card BEFORE making Kroger purchase at any register or customer service desk and then you can use the Kroger gift card to purchase anything (e.g. food, fuel, RX, etc.) in a Kroger store (except services).  Dr. Broadstone suggests that you use these yourself to help us fundraise, but that many businesses might consider giving pre-loaded cards as gifts to their employees. All Kroger gift cards need to be purchased through Camp Hendon to earn the 4% rebate to camp.

Consider donating yourself or give monthly

Of course, we would like you to consider donating directly to Camp Hendon yourself, in addition to the community and organizational fundraising efforts above.  We'd be pleased if you could sponsor a single camper at $350 and you can do that online, via check, or even small amounts monthly.
